IELTS Exam Pattern

In general IELTS test contains the following 4 sections

1. Listening (30 minutes)
2. Reading (60 minutes)
3. Writing (60 minutes)
4. Speaking (11–14 minutes).

The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Listening, Reading and Writing tests are done in one sitting. The Speaking test may be on the same day or up to seven days before or after the other tests.

Based on the Admission / Visa requirements IELTS test takers can choose between one of the following versions of the test.     1. Academic
    2, General Training

Depending on their academic or professional aims, or visa requirements. All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking components but different Reading and Writing components.

IELTS Academic measures the English language proficiency needed for an academic, higher education environment.

IELTS General measures English language proficiency in a practical, everyday context. This version of the test is also often a visa requirement for those planning to migrate to English speaking countries including Australia, the UK, and New Zealand.
